Round one of the NZ MTB Cup to be at Living Springs!
The Christchurch Singletrack Club are excited to be hosting round one of the national MTB Cup this summer on Sunday 10 January at Living Springs. We are looking at having a longer course than we had at our race earlier this year and will give you more details closer to the time.

Living Springs Trail update, October 2009
Remember, these trails are open to the public to ride so make the most of them! We have put together a brochure and map that we will make available soon. The team have been working hard this winter and spring to improve the drainage, particularly on Zanes, to make it much more rideable during the wetter parts of the year. Basically, if all the Port Hills trails are open on the CCC website then you can assume that Living Springs will be rideable without doing significant trail damage. The ground is pretty dry now so it dries up quickly after rain and is pretty rideable anytime.

Back in June we had a planning meeting with some of our trailbuilding crew and Living Springs and decided to go ahead and develop the proposed singletrack loop on the forested upper slopes of Living Springs. Depending on the number of helpers, it still may take 3-4 years to get the whole loop completed but we made a start in October! Yippee! This loop will add several km of singletrack to what we already have there and would not only create a brilliant race course, but also some of the most fun trails Christchurch riders will have to play on and will include what will be by far the longest singletrack descent on the Port Hills, most of which will be in native forest!

Along with around 135 volunteers, we have been building forest singletrack trails on the harbour side of the hill at Living Springs during the last 4 years. These trails are what some of you raced on in our Ground Effect Living Springs event on 28 March 2009. As this project is completely reliant on volunteer labour we are always keen for more people to pitch in and attend out trailbuilding days. Want to be a part of it? If so, flick us an email (xc@paradise.net.nz) and we'll keep you posted on when we are heading over there. Details of what we have done so far can be found on our trailbuilding page
